I feel like it’s pretty obvious by now that I am obsessed with boutique hotels. Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel in St. John, USVI is definitely one of my favorites, for so many reasons. Prior to 2013, when my husband and I first visited St. John, neither one of us had even heard of the island before. Before our visit, I began researching hotels and it became quite clear there weren’t that many options. I happened upon the website for Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel and instantly feel in love with it.

Fast forward to 2019 and I knew exactly where we were staying during our second visit to St. John. Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel is charming, centrally located (it’s a short 5 minute walk from the ferry dock), and the staff and owners are amazing. There are also several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. When we arrived for check-in, one of the owners (Denise) greeted us and got us checked in. She also provided us with a local map and highlighted some of her favorite restaurants on the island.
The owners are usually always available during the day when the check-in desk is open. My husband and I would frequently stop and chat with them on our way out and they always answered any questions we had. Sometimes we would just stop and talk about random things, like how the island was doing post the 2017 hurricanes, how the hotel faired during the storms, etc. In my opinion, this is what sets Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel apart from any other hotel on the island. I love it when hotel owners interact with their guests.
The hotel has 14 guest rooms and one penthouse apartment suite for larger families. We stayed in one of the regular guest rooms that overlooked a local restaurant. A few of the rooms have a balcony, so when booking a room, look at the room description if you want a balcony. The hotel offers free breakfast in the mornings which consists of local pastries, muffins, yogurt, and fruit. It was really filling and nice to get your stomach full before a day of exploring. There are even complimentary beach towels, beach chairs, and ice chests for all guests.
Another thing I absolutely love about Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel is the fact the hotel uses solar panels for the majority of their energy consumption! I think it’s great when hotels are conscious about the environment.
I honestly couldn’t recommend Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel enough and you should definitely consider it for your next trip to St. John.
Have you ever been to St. John? If so, where do you usually stay?
